'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the thrilling dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from distance, and Cameron Burgess quickly hammered in the loose ball before charging toward the crowd to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result completed an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a fourth-round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's volley from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after Orient changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the opposition who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they know how to manage and slow down a game. You can think you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At Orient he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for club and country, excelling for his national side, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the player from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was freezing," he recalls, smiling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I felt I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the transport team, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include a teammate, another squad member, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
